  • [es-pree de less-ka/-iay] (idiom) A witty remark that occurs to you too late, literally on the way down the stairs. The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations defines esprit de l'escalier as, "An untranslatable phrase, the meaning of which is that one only thinks on one's way downstairs of the smart retort one might have made in the drawing room."

someone called me just to recommend stranger than fiction. is it really that good?

Feel better! You're on the right track by putting up those very sunny pics, we'll need more such memories in the not too distant future.

Two words to remember when it gets rough: sun lamps!

Oh!!! How those pictures mock me!!!

Pretty photos!

Claire, sooooooo -- tell us about Stranger Than Fiction.

I love Emma Thompson -- the previews look good...

Do tell!

BG, I don't have a ton to say about it. It was a very enjoyable movie. It made me laugh and mildly think about life. It didn't change my life, but played well into issues of "what I'm going to do with myself" that I'm currently going through. I would suggest it to people for a fairly light-hearted night out at the movies.

Well, can't beat that. I definitely want to see it. Everyone can use a little light hearted night out once in awhile.

:)

I've never stopped going through that!
